So if I am going to invest in Ackbar and I have Chirrut as a chromium pull. Would it be better for me to transition from the phoenix team into option number 2?

Probably, but not necessarily. All depends on your opponents and mods you will get. If you don't have enough high speed mods then Rex is a better option. Usually you should take best toons for arena team. What I wrote in guide are "frames" of teams you could transition into. You have to tweak them depending on matchups. Any team with Leia relies heavily on crits, so Rex is natural born. At this stage it's hard to say what will work best since mods are what will win you matches in the end.
