Adaptive FTP Guide (to be reconstructed)

Also, maybe host the guide somewhere else. (Reddit?) Since the software people responsible for this forum can't seem to solve the problem of auto-deleting edited posts, maybe this isn't the best location for a frequently updated, evolving, "adaptive" guide.
