It all depends on the opposition but your mods definitely matter as well. RNG is also a factor. I compete for 1-5 in my payout, but routinely get pushed back every night, sometimes as far as to the 30s if the Shard is particularly active.
I run the typical team, fighting against the same typical mirrors.
Traya v Traya can definitely be much longer than the meta used to be.
However I find when I win, I'll usually win handily and sit there twiddling my thumbs for 2-3 minutes waiting for the final 10 or so seconds.
When I lose... It may often come down to the wire.
Or RNG may screw me and it's over as quickly as some of my own wins.
And these are against the same people, mind you.
The problem isn't with the Meta, not entirely. It's just luck and your own mods.
Like Kyno said, your kill order choices definitely matter as well. Once I refocused who I was going after first, everything else fell into place.
