Sounds to me like you had two chances and made a mistake on both. You got smoke screen off, but shouldn't have used that. Should have stunned Poe or BB-8 first.
That wouldn’t matter because once BB8 gets Secret Intel off once, there’s no stopping it. Everyone gives it away like a happy flu.
This would only be relevant if everyone also had ID.
