Best choice in Cantina

Hi all. I have a lot of doubts about who farm in Cantina (battle and shipment).
I'm lvl 61 and I have:

Sidius 7* , VIII gear
Lumi 7* , VII gear
Luke 6* , VII gear
Daka 5* , VII gear
JC 4* , VIII gear
Phasma 4*, VII gear

-Who is better to take in Cantina battle?
JC , GS or i have to start Kylo?
-And in Cantina Shipments?
Poe or QGJ

I have read a lot of thread about them, but i haven't find a real answer.
Thanks all for your help.
GG.
  • I have similar build as yours except for Phasma. I have a 7* Luke and is on my way to starring up my GS atm. As for the shipment, I am going after Poe at 5*. Not sure if I shall continue my way up to 6* or switch to QCJ.

Pretty keen to get some Assist ability going on in the team with GS as I've always been squashed by strong AOE/Assist/Counter teams: Phasma, Kylo, Dooku.
  • What's your arena squad? How many Cantina energy refills can you do daily?
With your stuff I'd say run a Phasma Leader with Sid, Luke, Lumi and Daka. Sid is a better leader on on crit, high dps comps and apart from Luke, you don't have it. Max out those ASAP.

I'd say finish getting Luke to 7* in cantina battles. Then go for Kylo and max him, until you can farm Dooku at level 69.

Daka is a solid all around performer, Id say keep farming her to 7*.
If you go chasing Poe, he'll probably be nerfed by the time you ever get him into the field. AND, you need him at gear VIII to make him turn 7 (are you prepared for that?) if he isn't turn 7, don't bother, the dynamic changes the meta if he isn't going first and you'll have wasted your efforts and lost opportunity costs. Poe only works (for now) in high dps burst damage squads, you don't have it, adding Poe to your squad is a mistake.

QGJ is an option but you'll be again behind the curve on him if you don't already have him unlocked and you'll be left with a bunch of weak geared, half promoted 4*/5* mediocre toons by the time the next meta is figured out by the whales with the new toons. You probably can't compete with what they spend so why chase them?

You know what the difference between 1st and 51-100 is?
400 crystals, 275 arena tokens and 25K+ credits, that's what!
It's a cantina energy refill and 4x LS/DS energy refills on top of your natural recharge plus 5 extra shards every other day.

Focus on making your Arena squad as strong as it can be as soon as you can.
That means making the most out of what you've got, because the tokens and crystals you can earn by being consistently top 5, accelerates everything else by giving you more arena tokens but more importantly, the crystals for energy refills for farming crucial gear and hard node shards for less easily farmed toons like Ewok Elder, Resistance Trooper or FOTP (who will get fixed like Leia and won't be so OP) to break free of cookie cutter builds and leverage your oddball toons you may pick up in a lucky Bronzium drop (like I'm doing with Lobot whom I'm building a droid team around as a side project for GW and eventually, Arena).

I'm in a hard launch server, we'll all hit level 70 in the next day or two, and I'm consistently top 5 (2nd yesterday, 1st the day before, 4th the day before that).
I'm running a Phasma led Sid, Lumi, Daka and Kylo squad. I'm never out of the top 10. It can be done on very modest spending or even F2P.

Don't worry about chasing the flavour of the month, stick with your solid core and groom replacements one at a time and try to stay away from one trick ponies, opt instead for the more versatile toons (like Kylo) until you have a rock solid 7* squad, are succeeding consistently in Arena, then branch out.

By the time you get the latest "must have" toon like Bariss or Leia were, it'll have been nerfed into the ground (Bariss), fixed (Leia) or rebalanced and no longer the OP character you were after.

It's a mugs game, let the whales use the hard cash to learn the hard lessons and you can learn from their mistakes but don't mimic them if you aren't prepared to spend like they do.

I hope you can read my answer..
    ..Thank you so much!

I'am farming JC to 5* now.. in 2/3days i can have it.
Kylo was my first idea, but players around me have Him yet. I will start him soon, as you have said.

I can stay in top50easly and i can go in top20 too, somethimes.
I can refill my cantina energy twice a day.

    Oh, important to say :)
I have found Barriss 4*in Friend Points coins 3 days ago :)
So i have to upgrade her for my GW team..
I don't need more pg now, you are right..

I want to thank you again.
And if you have new advices after my answer, i will be happy to read them!

***Edit: And a team with Sid (L), Luke, Daka, GS (i have it 3* VGear) and 1 your advice?
    Could this team work?***
  • To all you bragging "i am top 10, 5 , 2 whatever in your arena ranking, then you are either a big spender or you are lucky in a new server. My advice would be if you are a f2p player, then don't brag because you will get demolished in my server within 15 secs. Enjoy your high rank and use your rewards smartly whilst you are up there. Concentrate on 5 to 7 characters and gear up etc to max asap. Why? The other players are right behind you ready to take your position. You need to get your toons up to consolidate and maintain your position. You'll need a core of 3 toons plus 3 or 4 others. That's all.
  • @Jabberwocky, how are you getting past the Poe/FOTP etc squads? I have the same standard squad, all 7 stars, max skills, lvl 67, geared from VII to VIII. Have Poggle 6 stars gear VI instead of Daka. I barely make it to the top 20 nowadays. Stuck at 27 today. Couldn't get past said teams.

Half the guys in the top 50 are running Phasma/Sid teams with Poe etc. The only reason I still sometimes make the top 20 is I stay away from teams at mine or higher lvl with overall lower power than me. If it's lower, most times it's Poe and the cowards hiding behind him .

I had 5s before Poggle and was almost dropped out of the top 100.

Guess what, they are not going to be in your server ever so why don't you quit bragging my server is the bomb! Servers are allotted at the time of signing up, so everyone in any server will be starting at near about same levels. Don't compare your months long game play and diss people who are excelling in servers around their own levels.

For your pleasure, my wife runs classic droid with Poggle, GS, all 5 stars lvl 56, only a couple purples and she made 20 today. Top 10 maybe tomorrow. She'll brag about it if she wants cos guess what? She's not in your super tough server and she's doing great in her own server. Against people who are roughly equal to her, not over powered folks playing for months in other servers.
