Best type of characters for Speed Primary/Secondary mods at level 77

I'm still working on mods, and will be for quite a while. I have 5* health mods unlocked. I'm working on modding up my characters. Which types of characters are the most helped by speed mods? Attackers? Healers? Debuffers? Buffers? is there any general rule for this, or is it too team specific? My thought was attackers in general for the extra DPS, but I can see a case for buffers/debuffers for the first turn, and I know that some teams have special synergies.

I have two mods (three soon) with a +30 speed. Right now I'm using one on DN, I'm running a Sith arena team for the low power and easy GW. I'm also working on a Phoenix team and that is less clear about who is most important. I also will eventually have a Rex/Chaze/Wiggs team, they need a lot of gearing up though. I'm strapped for Cantina points because I'm trying to get Palp so getting more isn't a viable option at the moment ;)

Thanks for any advice,
Ralph

  • It really all depends on your lineup who should have priority, just keep your best speed mods on your arena team. If you're running rex, you want him fast to give TM on the opening move. If you have sith assassin, same idea, give tm on opening move. DN also does well with great speed to get his special off quicker. After the TM gain guys, I'd say attackers. if you're running DN Dooku, you could put offense mods on dooku instead of speed if you don't have enough to go around. He's mostly there for his counters.
  • So it really depends on who or what you want to do. For example in the Rex lead team you listed Rex is a character I would want high speed on so that he goes first and you can use the Tenacity up power before an enemy can attack and start placing debuffs. Some tanks like Baze you do not want speed on because you want them to wait a while before taking turns so that their taunt last longer.

Doesn't help, it basically says put speed on almost everything ;)

Thanks, I hadn't thought about the counters, I was going to give Dooku one as an attacker ;) I don't have nearly enough to go around. I'll check out Rex and Sith Assassin. My Sith Assassin isn't very high yet, so he may not be survivable in the arena.

Thanks, I hadn't thought about Tanks either. They should normally have things other than speed on them.

You guys have helped a lot.
  • Give me whatever specific toons you would like to mod and I will help you pick out your secondary stats if you'd like. We are using health mods only for now, yes?

Thanks for the offer, but it isn't that simple. I know there are sites like CrouchingRancor which give advice on what secondaries to use. The problem is that it recommends speed mods for almost everyone. Since I don't have that many (does anyone?) I'm trying to figure out the rules to prioritize who should get them.

Now that I have some heuristics (DN and Time Management good, for example) I can start allocating them and then going through the harder work of assigning specific mods to specific people. After that, I'll probably give to the attackers and finally the buffers. I'm getting to the part of the game where it seems like the most important thing is currently raw DPS.

First thing to do is probably to get my arena team as good as it gets with mods which willtake a while. It's currently Sith + Boba, although I'll try subbing Sith Assassin for the trooper.
  • Forgot to mention Stormtrooper Han might be the only exception for a tank that speed does well on. He is great if you can get him going first to taunt so he starts granting turn meter to all your allies whenever he gets hit. Also the reason crouching rancor says put speed on everything is because when you get to level 85 and your arena squad is almost exactly the same as the person who is fighting you or you are facing speed will make all the difference if your characters get to take actions before theirs.

I'm glad I could help, just try to keep in mind with your team what abilities you might want to happen first and that is why speed is important. Also I have been playing since launch I do not have mods that have +10 or +15 speed in the secondary stat on the mods. I have to use the speed set from the mod challenges to get the % increase when using 4 speed mods.
  • Javik,
Thanks for the tip on Han. Part of my problem is that most of the help I'm looking for assumes you're at level 85 and doesn't necessarily apply at lower levels. Speed helps everything, but I didn't know which ones were more important, I just don't have the time in game and haven't had the need for that kind of optimization to understand those things.

    Thanks again,
    Ralph
