You already have Padawan Obi Wan in relic and you're only missing Master Qui Gon to be able to play event Duel of Fates with tons of recourses you can definitely use, and no you can't cheese it with old version of Qui Gon, it really has to be Master Qui Gon, especially for relic tiers.  Follow the link to see the rewards  swgoh.wiki/wiki/Duel_of_the_Fates

PS: There is a WAT lightspeed sometimes available for 15-20 bucks. I'm also waiting for it and smugglers one as well.

That's impossible for me to say.  Certainly focus on finishing that JMK farm, which means you'll probably need to be in a guild that gets Wat shards and you'll need to use the currency (GET3 probably) that purchases his shards.

There's no definitive path next.  However, the usual way is to look at what you already have that takes you part way to your next unlock.  I think it's fine not to just focus on GLs, in high Kyber right now there are a lot of teams working instead of GLs.  So....it's not just about them.

Generally, ships are a big crystal income.  It's important you become a big-time player in your ship shard.  So, I would advise getting the most powerful meta fleet that's available to you.

I  believe they're giving advice based on Assault Battles and what you can gain from those events.  MQG and POK have one where you can get pretty neat rewards.

What should I persue? I went for GL JMK, only missing Wat Tambor to unlock his event. But I'm not sure that the right way to go is only GLs.

I can only give you suggestion:

Master Qui-Gon, Enoch, Great Mothers, Death Trooper (Peridea), Night Trooper. 

What you get for it is: Mod mats, relic mats, Kyro, credits, crystals, GM team which is fantastic, finish Thrawn and get Morgan, you can unlock Baylan Skoll then. It's still your chose; this is just a recommendation of what I would do if I was in your place. You still have a lot of other options like, dark clones, unlocking starkiller ect

A quick peruse of your account, with no idea what you're chasing.  These stand out:  Padawan Sabine, Savage Opress, Cassian Andor, Rex, Nihilus, Great Mothers.

That's just from a quick look mind....all of those characters you'll use/need at some point.
