Can someone explain Merciless Massacre and culling blade

For the bonus offense you need to have the green locked buff above Vader. You gain it when you enter mm but lose it when you hit an opponent without the blue mm icon above them. So you can hit all 5 or 6 opponents and then for the next hit you still have that bonus offense.
