I was always disappointed at how squishy he was as a tank compared to pathfinder, but the tm manipulation is where his utility really is.

I agree that you can be ready for CLS in 4-5 months as f2p if you come to the forums and have help from your guild so you know what you're doing. CLS reqs are really easy farms from stores or early nodes. Empire toons are also pretty easy, especially if you already have Phoenix.
