Chewbacca farming

Shard drops are the same at stage 5 and 1. In the higher stages you're getting slightly more cantina credits/energy. 21/12=1.75, 17/10=1.7 and 13/8=1.625 credits per energy. The droprate for tier III ability mats is also a bit higher at the level 5 battles.
So it's your choice, more shards or more ability mats and cantina credits.
Btw why farm chewie?

I have him accumulated half the shards to 5* with no effort. Willl be done with kyle tomorrow, and waiting to hit level 69 to start farming dooku.

Assuming we have 80 Cantina Energy,

Level 1 costs 8 per SIM, we can go 10 times = 130 Credits.

Level 5 costs 12 per SIM, we can go 6 times = 126 Credits.

Why you can do no math you seem asian :p (fellow asian here) You're forgetting 8 energy in your example.
It's easier to divide credits per energy like I did in my previous post. But to stay with your example.
Lets say we got 120 energy.
level 1 costs 8 per sim, we can go 15 times for 13 credits = 195 credits
level 5 costs 12 per sim, we can go 10 times for 21 credits = 210 credits

His taunt really lasts about as much as others because he is slow. He is the only tank who self heals.

i like chewbacca and am going to farm him to 6 at least. My arena team is a survival team though with lumi, JC, chewy, 5s and Sid of course. It's not the best but it's been good enough to push into the top 50 arena and complete GW everyday without spending a cent. one caveat chewbacca is a pain in the rear to gear up. I still am sitting on gear level 6 because of one of the purple gear mats that is painfully slow to farm

He has taunt, defense up (leader ability) and self heal. He's probably the best tank in the game.
