OK, so now the TM thing is settled you are moving onto that.

The apparent reduced damage has already been explained to you.

For the third time in this thread, you are damaging Paploo, but he is regaining health and protection at the same time due to his unique ability, as you are inflicting debuffs on him every time you hit him.
