Well you don't have to rely on trial and error. All the mechanics are out there for anyone to read and figure out if it will work or not.
But yeah CG should test and tell players which leads/units won't work for a feat, I don't think they care to much though, the feat is completable.

If you’ve got a decent phoenix squad put it up against FO. Take down everyone but KRU as fast as you can and then autobasic, he will be healthiest obviously so every Hera attack +1 with a few bonus ones from counters if you’re using Kanan. No worries about dots or AA disks either.
