If you are fighting other DR teams you need a pretaunter. It can be anybody, doesn’t have to be Sith Trooper. KRU is a nice choice because he can also tank Malak’s drain. When Thrawn is there it’s usually a speed issue to let him swap to Bas so she can go first.
ETA: If fighting JKR, Nihilus or Traya can be nice because you know the opening direct focus will hit somebody irrelevant.
