Battles last more than 2 turns.
Maul daze is normally the first attack done followed by dn CD reduction. A high speed cleanser can easily get a second turn to cleanse daze and let the counter attacking happen

C'mon man. I bet if they had a droid lead with 50% counter chance you would be coming up with all kinds of theories why Maul daze wouldn't stop them.
I think for all intents and purposes you are finished after two rounds
Considering I have used Nihhilus' annihilate ability twice in several arena battles, I beg to differ. In high level arena with 7* fully geared and maxed everything, arena battles go several rounds - and sometimes aren't decided until the very end. In fact I just finished one where my Nihilus (with no protection) and enemy Boba were the only two left. And Boba had just revived with full protection and Nihilus had to force drain to get his 2nd annihilate ready for him. So that went 5-6 rounds and wasn't clearly decided until Nihilus was able to stop Boba from ability blocking him.
That's not even taking into account Jyn revives, or Zylo going off on 1 vs. 3, etc.
Im talking gar lead vs maul. yes there can be some long battles now. but maul owns him. gar saxon L will set you up to counter. two rounds of not doing so through all specials, plus contending with stealth after, and everyone already used specials, its maul fodder, your team will be nearly dead. How are you gonna come back from that with possibly a few counters when your team is nearly done, it wont help at all. Any other leadership/team would be better vs maul, this gives you nothing. No gar team can take out maul teams in a comeback from that. You will have better luck with healing and surviving then beating them. Maul is literally ideal to own him, he wont get a sniff.
i face maul with kenobi and one other tank and they are both almost done by the time i get a turn against the really legitimately really maxed maul teams, its just enough to protect my guys, who heal and go from there. Gar lead will get smashed by maul every time.
It's a really good lead, just look at some of the empire basics -
EP - overall best debuff, plus tm gain
krennic - tenacity down
deathtrooper - daze or even stun
rg - stun

Maul isnt OP, he just has an effect that negates counter attacks. The new guys might be good under Rex, but youll need him for sure.
His zeta negates any strategy besides a triple cleanse to extend the match long enough to widle them down. It's way OP when compared to anything else in the game.
It doesn't negate any strategy that isn't triple cleanse, probably do need a single cleanse though but that's true of any team. I ran Vader lead, SA, DN, GK, ST and dominated Maul squads even though their SA went before mine.

Except Maul is rarely if ever the issue on that zeta Maul team. Team didn't work with out Darth Nihilus. Maul with Sith Assassin is just the toll that gets Darth Nihilus started sooner. Darth Nihilus will disrupt a team more than Maul ever will.

Right here, first zeta. He was good on offense but dropped like a fly on defense. It wasn't until the new characters and zetas were released. zSavage really made a big difference in mind too."scuba;c-1017918" wrote:

i face maul with kenobi and one other tank and they are both almost done by the time i get a turn against the really legitimately really maxed maul teams, its just enough to protect my guys, who heal and go from there. Gar lead will get smashed by maul every time.
It's a really good lead, just look at some of the empire basics -
EP - overall best debuff, plus tm gain
krennic - tenacity down
deathtrooper - daze or even stun
rg - stun
just not against maul, he will chew you up. And if anyone plans on trying that with him at 3*....... dont do it anakin!!
Except Maul is rarely if ever the issue on that zeta Maul team. Team didn't work with out Darth Nihilus. Maul with Sith Assassin is just the toll that gets Darth Nihilus started sooner. Darth Nihilus will disrupt a team more than Maul ever will.
Maul zeta was released in November didn't really come into play until February. I saw many try to use him just didn't work.
Im talking about gar lead vs maul lead, Gar lead will help you counter, which will do nothing for you vs a maul team.
Every character / team has a counter, nothing is unbeatable but not everything can beat everything. You can't expect a character with pretty mediocre abilities to dominate everything. Just hang-tight until the next Empire characters are released, it can change everything.- scuba759 years agoLegend

C'mon man. I bet if they had a droid lead with 50% counter chance you would be coming up with all kinds of theories why Maul daze wouldn't stop them.
I think for all intents and purposes you are finished after two rounds
Considering I have used Nihhilus' annihilate ability twice in several arena battles, I beg to differ. In high level arena with 7* fully geared and maxed everything, arena battles go several rounds - and sometimes aren't decided until the very end. In fact I just finished one where my Nihilus (with no protection) and enemy Boba were the only two left. And Boba had just revived with full protection and Nihilus had to force drain to get his 2nd annihilate ready for him. So that went 5-6 rounds and wasn't clearly decided until Nihilus was able to stop Boba from ability blocking him.
That's not even taking into account Jyn revives, or Zylo going off on 1 vs. 3, etc.
Im talking gar lead vs maul. yes there can be some long battles now. but maul owns him. gar saxon L will set you up to counter. two rounds of not doing so through all specials, plus contending with stealth after, and everyone already used specials, its maul fodder, your team will be nearly dead. How are you gonna come back from that with possibly a few counters when your team is nearly done, it wont help at all. Any other leadership/team would be better vs maul, this gives you nothing. No gar team can take out maul teams in a comeback from that. You will have better luck with healing and surviving then beating them. Maul is literally ideal to own him, he wont get a sniff.

Daze can be cleansed. Darth Maul with out Nihilus who cares if you don't counter till you cleanser goes which will be pretty quick since they could use cleanse first turn.
That is where dn makes the difference.
Turn 1 cleanse vs turn 2 cleanse.
Having to wait till turn 2 could be an issue depending on speed.

In theory maybe. Again matches last more than 2 turns. My team that relies on counter attacks and tm gains beat zeta Maul regularly.
