My usual strategy against droids is kill 86 first (I use a speed team QGJ lead) or take his health down (depending on crit, etc.). I use Lumi so when she's up, I silence the tank if it's anybody but RG. After that I'm usually able to have at least 86 down and 88 on the ropes or dead as well.
If I can't silence the tank and they gain speed or TM, then my wild card is Yoda spreading foresight. And that turn usually gets me what I need to still pull off the W. Obviously if I can't silence the tank or spread foresight, then it's all over for me. But honestly that doesn't happen very often.
