If you are over 4 mil GP you should have most rebels nearly maxed, and if you don't have Hounds Tooth you don't deserve to win. There are at least 2, probably 3 squads that could beat a great falcon team and if as you say they surround it with garbage then it should be when easier.
HT is very helpful as a taunting tank and he can do it with different mixes of bugs, rebels, or empire teams. Thrawn can beat it or ackbar or even tarkin under the right conditions.
