You’re pretty much screwed without R2, he is kinda the engine of the droid team. Even still, after the first two turns you’re out of steam and the other team squishes your poor droids before they get back on the ball. So if you want to use droids in the arena, get empire for R2 and FO for bb8.
P.S. I haven’t considered Chopper in a droid squad, he might be very useful.
