I'm actually very happy with the game as a free player, and very glad that whales are out there. No whale hate here. It is a difficult to balance making the game enjoyable, and profitable. You need a very large base of free/low spenders who can be competitive or else whales won't spend. They need someone to have an advantage over. All in all I like the balance they have struck there. Love the current character release, and most of the events.
And the very large following of loyal players along with the huge money this game rakes in suggests that lots of us are very happy. But it's the internet. So a vocal minority will cry, and gripe, and blow things out of proportion when they don't like something, and hurl insults at the devs from behind their keyboards that they would never have the guts to say to actual people (which they are by the way) face to face. That's not just here. That's the internet.
Personally I don't agree with everything in the game, but it's vastly improved over the way it was 18 months ago when I started, and I like where it's headed. And you are 100% right that I will get tons of disagreement on that.
