GAC advice.... be kind plz

Setting up an SWGoH profile and dropping a link to it here would be the best way to get feedback. That way people can see your characters' gear levels and mods.

I keep getting pwnd in GAC. It's always my defense. I am almost always able to clear the other side with my offensive teams, but I can't hold territories.... I don't have JKR or DR obviously.... Nor do I have Geos or Grevious at any level of value.

In the current GAC, I need 5 defensive teams and at least 5 for offense.... and I've not been in top 4 since grand arena launched. EVERY match I am way outclassed, so I am trying to pump up a few more squads. Here is what I have currently.

Defense

• BH with Bossk lead - GP 94.3k
  
• Jedis with Bast. lead, Yoda and Jolee - GP 99.5k
  
• FO KRU Lead - GP 77.8k
  
• Pheonix - GP 74.5k
  
• Rebels (Rogue One) - GP 91.6k
  

Offense I'm using

• CLS - 121.5 GP (normally I defeat Revan)
  
• Ewoks - 114.3 GP (normally defeat Night Sisters or Darth Revan)
  
• Empire - 90.2 GP (normally defeat Bounty Hunters or FO)
  
• Smugglers - 92.9 GP Qi'ra, YSolo, YLando, etc. (good against a lot on offense)
  
• Mixing whatever I have left.... :(
  

Advice?

I'd reserve FO for offense depending on what you're running. You can take Kanan and Ezra from Phoenix for Bastila lead Jedi and use GMY and Jolee for offense (hopefully under JKR lead soon for you). The biggest reason people lose GAs is because of efficiency. Even if you full clear your opponent and they clear you the goal is always to do so without dropping a battle, or to so without using full squads. If you don't have nest, she's the ace in the hole for GACs especially with qira. Same with old republic and zCarth lead. GBA is going to be key for grand arena for you for a while as well given that your opponent will almost always have them as well and how easily they decimate some strong teams.

Needless to say, focus on 5 strong offensive teams, then just be better at clearing them. The defense will work itself out in time. You have to just test and work out which teams do well defensively and make sure you have good mods all around. +8-10 minimum per every mod you use.

Get your Geo's up to at least g8-9 and they're a major pain. My GBA is 4* g10 with unique zeta, and the rest are g8+. Your opponent either has to overdo it and use a very good team or blows it and loses a battle, giving you the chance to win.

Hm.. sounds like a great idea, but I'm so far from that. I'll consider it though. Thanks.

On the other hand, if your opponent has at least somewhat decent Traya and Sion, geos are little more than a speed bump.

Not always. Geo spy can end up destroying your Traya team if you're unlucky. Yesterday a geo team slaughtered my g12 Traya, Sion, Nihilus. Also used a g10 Savage and g11 Shoretrooper. Only geo spy was left at the end, so I could finish it in the next battle. But a bit more than a speed bump.

Try Count Dooku on that team, his stuns helps against geos

A few general thoughts:

1) JTR with BB8 and decent resistance team around her (I like Finn, RT and Scavenger Rey) are a solid "swiss army knife" offensive team for GAC. They can take down BH, FO, and several of the scoundrel teams as well.
They are also helpful in phase 1 of the Sith raid. Another decent offensive team is Imperial Troopers. They can take down slower BH and NS teams - especially those without Spirit or Nest in them.

2) Some other defensive teams that I've had luck with are :
- NS (especially with Spirit in the lineup)
- Clones (you can use Rex lead if you don't have Shaak Ti - a high-gear zBarris team can make Clones even tougher)
- Scoundrels - 2 variations: Q'ira/Nest and Carth/Mission/Z with Wampa. I like Nest on defense mainly because she can create the need for a second attack if the opponent plays her wrong (i.e. sends in CLS or leaves her for last).

3) A few defensive "tweaks" to consider. First, always think "what is my opponent going to use against this...and so how can I best mess that up?" (many people try to use CLS vs. Clones - but that's why Rex lead w/Barris can create problems. Same with Wampa in the Carth team. Also, Spirit's stuns and foresight or Nest's counters in a NS defense can hurt Imperial Troopers. Also, consider adding Jango to your BH on defense if he's not already. He's really tough as the BH lead if opponents try to use any TM-gain teams against him (his lead, once he throws burning, stops TM gain - so it's good vs. ImpTroopers, Empire, etc.). Finally, put teams that usually use the same counter back to back - so, for example, if you suspect people are using Imperial Troopers against your NS and BH, put the BH in the front territory and the NS in the back territory, directly behind them.

Look at your opponents roster and imagine them setting their 5 toughest teams on defense. Have a plan to full clear that and set your best defenses after that. However, defense rule #1 is to block being solo'd by nest/wampa. This means removing Phoenix and R1 from defense.
Best suggestion I can give is to stop thinking in "teams of 5" and start thinking in "2s and 3s." Sure, 5 man cls and jedi are awesome. But that leaves you with Phoenix and R1 which are pretty bad. Rethink these squads to give you what you need on offense but help some on defense. Can you clear that revan without r2? If so, r2 could really bolster one of those defenses.
It all comes down to banners. Rather than thinking "how do I get a defensive hold?" instead think "will this give them 60 banners?"

I love when my opponent wastes a good offensive team like Traya on my bugs.

i do not think it has been mentioned in here yet, but the best way to continually improve your GAC performance is farming more mods. Most of the strategy changes have been hit on here, but mods are equally as important to improving ranking.

You're getting pwned because other folks have top teams like DR, JKR, GG, Padme but with the same GP. The truth is, you'll probably continue to struggle until you're able to build up some higher quality teams.

Bugs are a good start, since they're easy to farm and are useful at lower gear. Once they're G10 or so, they'll get you Padme. Padme would be a good next team, although you might be close to unlocking JKR. Clones are another good choice, with Shaak Ti being the only difficult farm/gear.
