It is because you need to use him right. First you need to leave him be. Then you need to get Lord Vader, which will be a must to get it along the new Maul and after that Lord Vader will hit for 200k followed by non-crit defense ignore hit from Maul of 150k dmg. After all Lord Vader, Gas is same persona right? Don't forget to buy a few packs of gear though and get them to R9.
