The biggest benefit for having GG in my squad is that he can apply two types of AoE debuff. This means I can keep everyone uper fast and not worry about slowing 88 down to fire after 47. Even if RNGesus gives 88 the first turn, I don't lose out too much anyway because the defense-down he applies helps GG's AoE and the ability-block can stall Wiggs, Lando and Palpy.
