Update from my side on the matter:
Short version : I made it!
Long version:
After some minor updates on the above described combo, like getting all non crew abilities on the Endurance to level 3, I gave it another shot yesterday just out of spite mostly.
But this time I followed JeffVader's approach and went for the FO TIEs first, because so far I always tried to kill the Slave I first, since I thought until now this is the ship with the greatest threat to me.
It might have been coincidence or simple luck but this time I managed to kill all ships and only loose one of my initial squadron. I even had to do it twice actually since my game crashed the first time shortly before the win. But in both tries it went really well, the Slave I was not really a thread and Tarkin took his time on reinforcements so they did not put any extra pressure on me.
