- If you don't know who Revan is I have to question how much of a fan of Star Wars you are. He is easily one of, if not THE biggest character outside the movies/tv shows.
To have no knowledge of him seems suspect to me. Either you are trolling or literally only pay attention to the movies, no other medium. Which is fine, but then you're just a basic fan. Which is also fine. Just saying. "evoluza;c-1591158" wrote:
Disscuing what we need for the revan legendary event, would be more on point.
What else would they bring as counter for traya?
And what else could compensate the messups better then a legendary event?
Meetra would be the "counter" to Traya and Nihilus and Sion. But Grand Master Yoda's rework works quite nicely on offense. Can't hold up on defense, though."YaeVizsla;c-1590959" wrote:

Why wouldn’t you want more Star Wars characters added to the game?
I want more characters added to the game. There are just three I specifically don't want in the game.
Revan, Meetra Surik, and Slave Leia.
Revan and Meetra for reasons I went over earlier in the thread. Revan and the Exile are first and foremost user generated Bioware protagonists, which made them a key point of representation in the Star Wars universe for a lot of fans. Giving either a race and sex is a Bad Idea and declares conflicting playthroughs invalid. I am aware other products have defined their race and sex. It's a bad idea in those, too, and the mistake should not be repeated.
Slave Leia is on the list for completely different reasons. The image is sleazy, and Disney is right to distance the IP from it.
Revan has an out clause that I would find acceptable, as their iconic look includes heavy, form concealing robes and a mask. Just use neutral pronouns and I would have no objection.
I'm with you on this one--although I've never played KOTOR so I have no idea who Meetra is. But I get what you mean, though I'm going to explain it as a response to. ... . . . .."KueChael;c-1591120" wrote:
There are many non-cannon characters in the game. That is what makes this so much fun. They can pull from anywhere. Not knowing who or how characters are released keeps us all on our toes.
It's not a matter of whether Revan is canon or not. I'd prefer not to see them in the game for the same reason I'd prefer not to see a Mass Effect movie even though I'm such a huge fan of that franchise.
The thing about Revan (or Shepard or the Boss from Saints Row) is that our relationship with the character is as intense as it is because we create our own canon every time we play the game. There's a default appearance, but that's just a starting point. Setting something in stone invalidates the attachments players make when they play those games. YaeVizslahas a hard name to spell without looking upoffers a compromise that respects the character while also respecting the player.- Revan is canonically a human male, and appears in Star Wars: The Old Republic as such.
Creating a genderless, faceless, neutral-pronouned character that departs from canon just to please your individual KOTOR gaming experience, does not make any sense. "Funderbolts;c-1591186" wrote:

Doesn't make sense to you, sure, fine. Makes plenty of sense to me.
It's worth pointing out, as well, that KOTOR was the first game like this, and every game since KOTOR, Bioware has been more diligent about not defining a canon protagonist. In other words, they realized their mistake in giving Revan a canon gender and haven't repeated it."YaeVizsla;c-1590959" wrote:

Nobody needs you to be their nanny. Nobody is on here saying they would be devastated if Revan's race or sex were defined. You are worried about theoretical feelings others might have over something silly.
Also, those things were already defined. That's done. Both in books, and in the game series they were defined. It's too late to avoid the imaginary crisis you are trying to create for hypothetical people. I think the Jedi Exile is awesome, and I'd love to see her added no matter how many times I played KOTOR 2 with a male avatar.
Is there a benefit to people who are born into difficult situations to see a way out of that, and does that mean seeing successful examples of people that look like them is a good thing? I'd say probably so. People like Doctors, and scientists, CEOs who have worked for those positions are valuable role models. A video game character isn't going to shatter anyone's world.
Also, are people so blindly tribal that they can only identify with people that are demographically identical to themselves? Black Panther just became my favorite Marvel character because I identify with his personality even though I couldn't look any less like him if I tried. He's an interesting character in an interesting story. Ahsoka is my favorite Clone Wars character for the same reasons even though we have different "plumbing." I can only stomach the existence of the prequels because she is such an incredible character, and I know she's one of the results of them. I loved her novel, and her appearance in Rebels.
Now I'm glad that there are people willing to stand up for others who need help. And I'm glad that entertainment today does a better job than it used to of reflecting the people that make up our society. But there is a line between that, and treating everyone as deathly fragile, and obsessing over insignificant nonsense in an attempt to baby proof the world. That's just insulting to all the people you are claiming to worry about.- You can’t say “imaginary crisis” bro, that’s a SERIOUS micro aggression.

Yeah, I'm going to stop before I get the thread shut down. But I have a hard time ignoring it when someone takes a reasonable point, and stretches it to such an absurd degree that they undercut their own position. That's vastly more damaging than a video game character being definitively male or definitively female or whatever.
The point is Revan is beloved by many, and will probably be added eventually, but I highly doubt it's coming now just because HK is the login character.
I think that there are enough good droids in the game that a few droid leader reworks would open up some viable teams without drastically changing many characters. So minor droid rework is my guess on what he signifies.- Canonically Revan is a male and the "Jedi Exile" (Meetra) is a female.
Deal with it.
People gotta try and make a controversy out of nothing. - Okay, hi, hello? Good morning. No one said controversy or was talking about damaging anyone until you all brought it up out of nowhere.
