How to best beef up Biggs ship?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knew how to best beef up Biggs' ship in fleet? I have noticed that mine seems more squishy than others of the same level and want to beef up his protection. I have his ship at only 4*, but I am on the threshold of getting Biggs to 7* and G8, but I don't want to waste gearing him up to 8 when I can use it on other characters that need it if it won't boost up his protection and or health in a substantial way. I have looked thru the forums and have not found any specific posts about boosting the protection stat when it comes to ships. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

    Ok, geared him to 8 and starred him to 7 and recorded stat results for curiosity's sake. Here are the results:

    Before(Biggs 6*, G7)

    Health - 34808
    Prot - 16862
    Speed - 131
    Potency - 12.22
    Tenacity - 27.22
    Phys Dmg - 4405
    Phys Crit Chance - 30.79
    Armor - 28.19
    --------------------------
    After(Biggs 7*, G7)

    Health - 39962
    Prot - 22016
    Speed - 136
    Pot - 15.95
    Ten - 30.95
    Phys Dmg - 5217
    Phys Crit Chance - 30.79
    Armor - 29.1
    ----------------------------
    After(Biggs 7*, G8)

    Health - 40543
    Prot - 22597
    Speed - 137
    Pot - 16.38
    Ten - 31.38
    Phys Dmg - 5309
    Phys Crit Chance - 30.79
    Armor - 29.25
    -----------------------

    I just wanted to post the differences for future reference. So overall +16k health & protection boost. Awesome!

    Pilot gear is the single most important thing for any ship. I took Biggs to G12 for this reason alone.

    Gear him up.

    This ^^^. Plus level 15 five dot mods are the other big ticket item to boost ships, as well as max pilot skills,

    So I know your question was about making Biggs tankier, and that's been answered here, but I thought you might like to see this tool.     Level 15 5* health mods seem to work for me. He lacks gear though right now being only 6. Too much else on right now.

    Mind you he may well end up being nerfed.....

    Biggs actually stats don't really matter only his crew power does, which is affected by level, Star ranking, gear level/ number of gear pieces equipped currently, level/ dots of mods and how high his skills are.
    Adding health mods will not make his ship have more health
