How to Build an Efficient Team?

I'd like to know what's your standard building a team. Trying to explain myself better: if you have 5 spots in your team and there are different types of characters (attacker, defender, support, healer exc.), how do you assign the roles? It depends by circumstances? By attitude?

My idea is to have a balanced team (2/3 attackers, 1 support/healer and 2/3 defenders), let me know what's your tendency be like.

  • Agree with HM.  This is not WOW Raids, where you need 2 tanks an off tank, 4 healers, 10 Melee and 9 range.

Synergy matters more.  For example, Imperial Troopers, General Veers, Adm Piett, Col Strak, Stormtrooper and Range Trooper are pretty formidable and their team is made to put out punishing damage and bonus turn meter.  The same for Phoenix and Geonosians.  Nightsisters are another very strong team that feeds off bonus turn meter and puts out rapid punishing dps.  You're more looking for faction tags, Rebels, Bounty Hunters, Imperial Remnant, etc.  Also there are some toons that work together regardless of faction.  Example Starkiller does his best work with a Sith toon, Unaligned Force User, a Jedi Tank, and a light side healer.  This makes for a really interesting team and there are several combos you can use.

You can google COUNTERS to teams on SWGOH.GG and look at what teams work to break other players as well.  It's also about reading kits and testing for yourself what works.  As mentioned Mods and Datacrons do affect game play and response.

Since this is your beginning account, there is a great video by an influencer who gives advice for farming what will really benefit you in an efficient manner to unlock Journey Toons and eventually your GLs if you don't want to spend cubits on stuff.  There is a lot of information out there, don't get frustrated or give up.  Use the internet and watch the videos of each of the influencers and see which one speaks to your play style or information uptake.  We're all here to support you and offer advice to the best of our ability as fellow players.

  • SWGOH doesn't really work like that.  This feels more like something you would do in games where you build teams from scratch.  However, in SWGOH the teams exist, we are just filling the slots.

However, in SWGOH different synergy are more important.  Usually, the alliance tag.  There are some situations where you'll require a tank and will look through your roster for a suitable tank.  However, in these situations, the plug in and play character would be quite versatile and assigned to a team on a temporary basis.

Generally, when you build teams they're quite set.  There are some variation in combinations; datacrons have added to small changes.  Generally though, there are set teams and you're better to go with them.  Certainly, we don't build teams as you're suggesting.

Alliance tag is the matter I consider first, if you speak about that means I'm on the right way. Datacrons too, now I'm level 51 and I'm testing them, I really think they're useful.

My question out of curiosity was about: it's better a team with attackers only, or maybe a balanced one? Types of characters make difference, for example: a healer could protect my attackers, a support could neutralize enemies and so on.

That's what I mean when I speak about building teams...

I'm stuck on the typical tank, healer, two dps and one support. Had that setup in every game I play.  But surprising I noticed on my shard healers are a rarity in squad arena from 1600-250

Stop thinking in terms of D&D or Blizzard's WOW model.

Emperor Palps is Support, Darth Vader is an Attacker, Mara Jade is an Attacker, Darth Vader Duel's End is an Attacker, Royal Guard is a Tank.

Phoenix, Kannan is Tank, Chop is a Tank, Hera is Support, Cpt Rex is Support, and Sabine is an Attacker or you use Zeb who is a third Tank.

A crazy 3v3 team I just saw, Saw Guerra Lead, Kyle Katarn, Drogan all rebel fighter tags, and they do solid dps and can take hits and heal without a healer.

You forgot to mention the mandolorians. I don't really care cg changed the group set-up. I'm still going to play how I been doing it for decades. That's why I been playing a scoundrel team and why I'm working on a bo katan team. Other teams I use to be interested in are the bad bunch and night sisters. Both have healers and tanks.

A little info ig12 has 200k hp and near 250k protection with team buffs and pax has 100k hp and 300k protection with team buffs.

Thank you. Yeah, I’ve faced off with GL Leia against Bo-Katan Mandalore with Paz and IG-12.  Paz and IG are a pair of thorns in my side.  I want to see how my Dr Aphra works with her new robot buddy, IG-90.  You probably don’t recognize him, because he’s totally Red.

Ok, got it: stop thinking about role playing.

From now, I'll focus on synergy and follow your tips about SWGOH.GG.

    Thanks and MTFBWY!
