How to calculate 2nd level speed required for turn order?

Hey all, I can't seem to find the math on a thread to do this. Hoping to get y'alls help.

Here is the scenario.

1. Two JKR led JML squads.
2. They are both getting the same pre encounter speed buff as there is no difference in Jedi/OR counts between the two teams.
3. Team One Speeds: JML - 539, JKR - 324
4. Team Two Speeds: JML - 495, JKR - 341
5. JML one goes first and uses EFFLUX. Team one Jedi get 15% TM. Team two resist TM down due to first turn tenacity up.
6. JML two goes second and uses EFFLUX. Team two Jedi get 15% TM. Team jedi (other than JML) resist the TM reduction due to tenacity up.
7. Here's the surprise.... JKR 2 takes the next turn. I would have thought that JML 1's efflux would have filled or near filled JKR 1's TM prior to JKR 2. (even with the new 100% turn order changes).

My question is, "What is the formula to determine what speed JKR 1 would need to be in order to move before JKR 2?"

What are the variables here to calculate based on different JML/JKR speeds?

    JML of 539 speed
    85% speed is 458
So anyone less than that will not be pushed to 100% TM
    JML of 496 speed
    85% speed is 421
So anyone less than that will not be pushed to 100% tm

So neither JKR is at 85% TM when the push happens so neither will be at 100%
The faster JKR (JKR 2) will hit 100% first and take turn
    So not a suprise
  • Can't give you the math, but the hypothetical might be that before JML on either side goes, lets say JKR1 is at 80% TM, and JKR2 is at 90%, since JKR2 is faster. JML1 puts JKR1 at 95%. Assuming JML2 hits 100% before JKR1 does, he puts JKR2 at 105%. Even if JKR1 is at 100% at this time, JKR2 has more 'overflow', so gets next turn.

This is a very simplified example, but basically as long as JML2 gets to 100% before JKR1, its LIKELY his TM boost puts JKR2 'above' 100% TM before JKR1 gets there.

At least that is my understanding.

Another way is to calculate effective speeds
Note: this is not in any way their actual in battle speed it is just the speed they appear to move at based on the TM push. Actual speeds are used for any thing that looks at speed
    Effective speed = speed / (1 - tm push)
    In this instance
    JKR 1 324 / 0.85 = 381
    JKR 2 341 / 0.85 = 401
  • Out of interest, here are the tm percentages (I assume those speeds are without the leadership):

    When 579 JML 1 goes, JKR1 is at 364/579 = 62.9%, JML2 at 535/579 = 92.4%, and JKR2 = 381/579=65.8%.

    Team 1 gets 15%...JML 1 is at 15% and JKR1 is at 77.9%.

Now JML 2 goes, completing the other 7.6% tm, so JML1 is at 579/535*0.076+0.15 = 23.2%, JKR1 = 364/535*0.076+0.779 = 83%, JKR2 is 381/535*0.076+0.658 = 71.2%. Everyone gains tm, JML2 goes to 15%, JKR2 goes to 86.2%. So you can see that JKR2 still has more tm owing to the faster speed.

Edit: I saw that you said JKR is lead. So the tm from leadership is wrong. But the point still stands.
  • Here you go OP. The formula you are looking for is right here. It's complicated but so very useful once you get your speed order down.

Also this is probably a better, more accurate explanation. :)

    Thanks for the reply.

OK. I understand what you are saying, but is there a way to calculate what speed JKR 1 needs to be to move first?

Also, after JML1 pushes JKR1, does he not overtake JKR2 briefly and gain some additional increment of TM prior to the JML2 turn? or am I wrong in thinking that the 81 speed distance between JML 1 & 2 taking turns amounts to a significant additional amount of TM gain for JKR1?

JKR1 just needs to be faster than JKR2
Both are getting the same TM push

In the end they are both filling 85% of thier TM bar who gets the 15% push first doesn't matter unless it pushes one to 100%

Ok makes sense. I'm trying to overcomplicate I think. Thanks again.

Right. Unless you can get the JKR to be 85% of the GML's speed, the faster one will go first.
