I stink at ships. Please help.

Hello, all -

I'm the first to admit it. I stink at ships. I basically ignore them and take blueprints where I can get them without trying. I do the absolute minimum to keep myself in ship shards so I can use them to buy Zeta materials. While I'm doing okay everywhere else in the game, it's really probably time for me to sort of understand how to not be so terrible at this part of the game.

I'm running Mace Windu as my lead, and I'm starting to get the impression I should be looking to apply target lock a lot with my ships. But I honestly don't know which of my ships are the best to do so. I know! I told you I needed help!

*Here are my ships* What are your recommendations for the best starting lineup and who I ought to put in backup? And how do I use target lock to the best of my ability to help Mace's home ship be its strongest?

Thank you for all your help, and I'm sorry I'm such a purposeful newb in this area (despite having playedthis game every single day since it basically started)!

  • So some of your ships are in decent places.

You want your opening lineup to be Biggs and every TL giving ship you got. This will keep protection on Biggs. Use Mace's taunt to protect your First Order TIE. This ship will gain so much tm from TL attacks; keep him alive.

Your Fives is well geared; his can be an annoying ship to deal with. Ahsoka is also useful for dispelling the retribution if you face Scimitar a lot. Wedge can do quite a bit of damage against debuffed enemies.

You NEED to get Slave I and TIE advanced. Even when I was running a lead that didn't synergize as well with them, they were amongst my most useful ships. Advanced will also help keep Biggs taunting with protection, as TL is renewed and boosts Biggs whenever it is cleansed or expires naturally. This is in addition to him inflicting TL on basic. He is also another dispeller.

Slave one gives TL and has two AoEs--one that gives ability block, and one that ignores protection and takes out half a ship's health.

Under Chimaera lead, these two ships with offense up are BEASTS. I strongly recommend finishing your existing Rebel ships and working on one of the U-Wings. Probably Cassian's, as those pilots of yours are more geared and it's an easy farm from cantina store. It is probably more versatile on offense too, though AI likely doesn't know how to use it.

So that would be my advice: Prepare fore next Chimaera event in probably about three months, and farm your butt off for Slave I and Advanced. Never pass up their blueprints when they show up. Put Biggs in your starting lineup with lots of TL. Protect your FOTIE at all costs.
  • I also suck at ships. I have a lot of them but don’t know the best builds.
What’s the ideal set of ships for Arena? I will get there eventually.
  • @crzydroid Some good advice there. My buddy has G11/6*Ship Wedge, Biggs, Resistance Pilot, Poe's X-Wing, TIE Fighter, G10/5* TIE Advanced, and G9/6* Slave 1, Ahsoka, and Jedi Consular but can't crack top 50...any ideas? Seems like 5-6 G10/11 pilots should be enough...does 7* make a huge difference?

7* on ships make a huge difference. Unlike characters, the stars on ships have a dramatic impact on their skills - protection, health, and speed are all notably influenced by a ship's star level.
  • Almost all of my ships came from GW store (but boba/maul/vader) and i think i have a competitive fleet (usually top 1 at payout).

I run AA as capital ship and my main strategy is Biggs and a target lock fleet arround him with Both Ties (from GW) and boba/vader (fleet store). First reinforcement is maul ship (retribution on biggs if its still alive or Tie to keep dodging and feedin AA TM), second reinforcement is fives ship (GW too) to aoe target locked enemys and third one wedges ship (GW) cuz i dont have a better choice xD

I usually win 3-4/5 ship battles and only lost to tarkin capital ships if i have bad RNG with their Tie ship (if it keeps dodging this tarkin ultimate hit comes so fast xD), thats why i try to hit enemy tie only using vader basic (undodgeable)

In adition all my pilots are also so good characters at diferent places of the game so geared them up didnt hurt me a lot...
