This is the exact opposite of why I'm asking this. I've seen my collusion group cause quite a few people to give up.
If it was up to me we would just go to a universal shard but I know that's too cut throat for most people's taste. Then only a very few teams would care about payout time.
How would a new player ever stand a chance in a universal shard?
New players would need to start on their own shards with increased rewards to get them going. Then they would roll into the main shard at 6 montes.
You really think this would cause less people to quit?
No one who started 6 months ago would be able to climb from the bottom of a shard that is 1 year old(never mind a day one shard), to the top in a reasonable amount of time. (They would quit)
A player 6 month into the game would never be able to handle a meta shift the same way a player playing from month 1 can. (They would probably quit)
In a universal shard, I honestly think it would ween itself down to a few timezones. Possibly even 1. Imagine how far you could fall if 1000 people are pushing you back to get into position for a payout. Maybe I'm wrong in that one but I think the long term effect could be something like that.
I'm not saying things shouldn't change or couldn't change, I just think 1 shard is a really bad idea if you want people to not quit.
That's why I said if it we're to my taste. I know most people couldn't stomach being merged with a shard more than a month away from theirs.
