Ignoring taunt

So my arena team just went up against a CLS lead. I'm using shore trooper, and he has his taunt on. I attacked CLS with my Thrawn and I noticed something was up, because CLS countered and hit thrawn instead of Shore Trooper. Then CLS went and did his turn and attacked my krennic.. I'm just staring at my shore trooper with taunt above his head wondering if since I don't have CLS maybe he has the ability to ignore taunts. Just checked up on that and nope. So can someone explain what was happening? I still won, so I dont feel to bad. Just would have been upset to have lost and that having been apart of it. /// Enemy team is CLS lead, R2, P leia, rex, and Thrawn/// my team was LThrawn, Krennic, Shore trooper, R2 and Ezra.
