GG isn't overly terrible. He doesn't truly synnergize well with a full droid group, but you'll want at least one droid to tag along. His leader skill is handy, though (I've actually seen several FOTP's with advantage not crit with their special several times), and seems to cancel out a Sideous lead team nicely.
His unique is bugged (to his advantage) in the sense that it always grants whomever he forces to taunt to gain full turn-meter (they didn't have to already be taunting).
I think GG's gear is messed up, and I believe it was intentional to prevent him from being obscenely OP off the bat as a "whale exclusive pay 2 win game breaker". No other AGI-based attacker suffers so tedious a gear grind for such minuscule modifiers (most of his gear once reaching G7 is +phys damage, + phys crit, with very little in the way of stat gear, where other AGI-based attackers tend to pick up far more at these gear levels). I think they'll adjust his his gear slots at a later time after they get some data metrics on his performance.
GG's HP is mediocre (low-spectrum from base, but even with only 1 other droid in the group, he surpasses Rey/QGJ due to the unique. His speed is low, so you definitely need another source for gaining turn-meter to make him viable (I'll throw a suggestion later). His damage is upper mid-range with his basic (which is good, considering it cannot be evaded or countered), and rather low-ish on his AoE special, but it brings the potential to "mass debuff with heal immunity" do its damage is understandable I guess. His 2nd special is actually pretty good, bringing AoE turn-meter reduction (even at a low chance, it's handy) in addition to a new debuff "max health down" - which doesn't serve much purpose against the currently most popular meta characters, but just wait until lv. 90, when many characters will have around 30k HP. Still, it's a new form of debuff, so it actually goes to further benefit as a synergy with IG-88.
I find GG to be handy for taking out Dooku, debuffing then harassing Fives, and making Yoda/Rey/Res. pilot's foresights go to waste while also inflicting damage. Not to mention he's handy to use against Luminara-led evasion groups. This is all primarily due to his basic.
Best compositions I've found him to serve in: 1.) Rex (L), Fives, GG, Han (or IG-88) and either Ewok Elder or Old Daka (or Han if you opted for IG-88). By far the best I've discovered so far, as Rex's leader skill in conjunction with Han will get his turn-meter going into overdrive.
2.) HK-47 (lead), GG, IG-88, Poggle, and Poe. Yeah, similar to one of the many popular droid squads. Functions as you'd predict but while GG lacks the burst dps compared to 86, he still does offer a bit more tact to being.
