I hot him to 5* lvl 7 gear, and that was plenty for GW. Opponent 7* JC hit moderately hard, but nothing catastrophic. You're better off spending resources on another toon after 5* JC, but you still need JC ASAP. His -1 cooldown means he can heal twice per battle if needed, so that you can spare Lumi or Barriss heals until you really need them.
