I haven't read the new books. I might have read that in an article from like JJ Abrams or Carrie Fischer or I'm possibly just getting things mixed up. But yeah I thought during the production or TFA there was someone mentioning that she got a little training (nothing extreme at all) but was too involved in politics (or something to that matter) I'll scour the Internet on my next break.
I know she was latently force sensitive in the old EU, odds are Disney incorporated that potential into the new canon, but not the training that she seems to have gotten in later-old EU books.
