Giving out his tech at the very start is pretty important part of wat so I would say yes

Definitely better with it (essential if you want to run him in arena, in my opinion), I owe G$ one more zeta and then Wat gets his next.

He works fairly well even without it if you mod him with a solid speed set, since he'll still get 30% TM off the bat and has a reasonably high base speed.

The zeta is well worth it though. The faster you can get Tech out, the better.
