I would have no problem with him staying hard node if he was a very good exclusive character. But I have him G11, and he has not been very useful in arena at all. I would love to try him in raids, but that won't be happening. Since he leaves things to be desired a more practical farm is prudent.

Krennic is pretty meta with DT. You just need the mods and the imagination to not use a full empire team maybe?
I find it ironic that you ask for an easy button for shard character. At least when you will get him to a shiny 7*, you could really brag about it.
