My advice...
Have fun with it. It's a game.
However...
With the recent trends, it has become painfully obvious that, like pokemon, you've got to catch them all. That being said, focus on those characters that will fit into multiple rolls. You will need a rebel team, but remember that certain rebels will double as scoundrels for the credit heist. R2 can be used anywhere. Some of the Phoenix squad are Jedi, and all of them are rebels. Choosing your first toons correctly will reduce the time and effort that it takes to unlock and complete many challenges in the game. After that, pokemon.
