Hickory, meta is the overall summation of the game as a whole. For example, because right now dodge based characters and characters like Rey and Royal Guard are so prevalent in most people's teams that it is consider quintessential to the game itself.
At least that is how i understand meta. As the game shifts in design and formula, so to does the meta shift.
