If you're looking to expand your arena team you will need to G11 more than just STH. Otherwise they will not be comparable to your droid team.
You may feel bored using your droid team, however it's all about how geared and levelled your roster is vs. your opponent. If your opponents are going full tilt with their roster, your going to have to do the same.
