Need advice on my Yoda 6/7* farming strategy

Well, I thought I had this figured out, but after a run of bad luck I am starting to wonder.
I have Yoda at 5* and have leveled and geared him and like him a lot. I don't know if I will use him long-term but I do want to get more stars for him.
The five I used were as follows:
- Luminara 7*
- JC 5*
- QGJ 6*
- Barriss 5*
- Mace 5*
I also purchased the Jedi pack (part of how QGJ got to 6*) so I have Anakin at 4*.
The first 4 are fine. I am farming Barriss and both she and JC will be 6* soon. (I am only going after 6* for the March return of the event, I will worry about 7* later since I have no practical way of getting 4 guys to 7* by then).
The 5th is the issue. I am wholly unimpressed by Mace, whom I leveled both because it was easy and because I hoped he would be better now. He is, but not better enough that I'd use him.
Anakin is sort of my next "leap of faith" project. He has potential for synergy with Jinn and Yoda. I think he looks like he could be fun to play. And he's fast which is important now.
The problem is farming him. At first I was having great luck with his nodes but that has run out and I've gone 2/18 the last 2 days. I am at 26/65 for him but that's really 26/150 since getting him to 5* does me no good. To get 124 more shards in roughly 30 days I will have to regularly refresh his nodes, which costs roughly 250 crystals per day. I can do this... I'm just not sure it makes sense. I'm afraid he ends up being as bad as everyone says and then I'm like "why did I do this?"
My options:
1. Keep working on Anakin and hope it works out and/or he gets a buff. If I do get him to 6* for March, getting him to 7* for April will be a lot easier (only need 100 shards in a month instead of 150).
2. Go back to Mace. The problem here of course is that I know I don't like him, and I need to use Cantina battles not only for Barriss and JC, but also for Dooku and GS, both of whom I set aside for the Yoda stuff.
3. Start on Eeth Koth. I can get him to 6* in under a month but he seems so bad that it would be 18k arena tokens down the tubes.
4. Work on Ahsoka. I have her at 14/65. Same issues here: she's underwhelming (love her character in Clone Wars, hate her implementation here), and she competes in Cantina shipments with all of Jinn, Poe, Daka and Fives, all of whom need more stars.
5. Other?

BTW does anyone know if Anakin shards ever appear in shipments? I don't recall, and of course, none have appeared since I started farming him.

Aniken does appear in shipments. The only farmable characters I haven't seen in there are dooku and rey.
Ashoka is good and she is very good in the challenge, one of your best possible options. Bariss would out perform mace for the challenge. Eeth has had very bad reviews for the challenge. It has been passed with aniken but I think this was from the former aniken glitch, he's a decent character I wouldn't say he's bad but he's not top. I'd say go lumi bariss JC Ashoka and qgj

Thanks for the info. Not sure why he isn't showing up for me because I would totally buy them right now. :)
Ahsoka is probably a non-starter for me. While I realize she has gotten better, she's only 4* now. I need to get Poe to at least 6* and then I'd have to get both her and Jinn to 7*. One character from 6* to 7* is 40 Cantina energy refills, which is 20 days if you refill twice. And I need another month just to get her to 6*. It's just too much.

At what stars are your Poe? I'm finding him usable at 4 stars and am taking him to 5 stars now that I've unlocked Yoda 5 stars. He's going to sit there until Ahsoka and QGJ and Daka are done.

I would not spend crystaks on refreshes for anakin. Get Mace, or wait 2 months for Anakin, inho

My Poe is now 5*. I want to get him higher because I have a build concept that requires him to have higher HP. However, I also need 25 Mark VII eyeballs and they drop on both of his mission nodes. So I may just take the "slow boat to China" approach and farm him there over the next month slowly while using shipments on Jinn.
I just read in another thread someone saying Mace is really useful in the 7* Yoda fight because of the expose. But I just don't know what I would do with a 7* Mace at the end of the day. He's still slow, and his AI is too stupid to even use his expose. I can't see any situation where I would use him over, say, Jinn. And having been buffed already he is unlikely to get buffed again.

... and he just showed up as they refreshed. LOL. This actually will make things significantly easier if it keeps happening. Not that I want to spend tons of crystals on him, but at least these are guaranteed. The random drop stuff is my least favorite part of this (or any) game.

I have completely changed my toon on Ahsoka and this event. I know the problem with Ahsoka is really a problem with too many toons that require the same currency, but I think she was made for this event. The only downside is her speed, and QGJ helps some with that.

Her hitpoints are not nearly as bad as they first appear because she receives a max health bonus for each living ally. Now, if allies start dying, her health is going to drop to one shot range. But if you have guys dying, you have bigger problems than Ahsoka's health.

Also, two of her attacks heal either herself or the group. The group heal triggers on crit, but I think she has one of the highest (if not the highest) crit ratings in the game. Extra heals are great for this event.

Also, I assume with all the criting, her damage output is decent, but I have not gotten her all decked out yet with gear/stars so my sample data isn't good enough yet.

Finally, none of her attacks provide buffs for her or the group. Therefore, Yoda can't steal them and beat the tar out of you with them.

Also, none of her attacks proc a debuff, so she never triggers yoda's leader ability where he increases group resist and every time someone resists they gain turn meter.

However, if you are stuck in a numbers crunch, there really isn't a way around that. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. I can certainly get her to 6*. I just don't see myself using her for anything but this event, and I wanted to avoid that. Mace is already established as useful for the event and he'd be the easiest to get to 6*. I can even do it the week of the event next month if it turns out Anakin is not useful.
I'm already going to have 3 healers... so I will have to hope for a bit of luck I guess. :)

I have no advice!

I've farmed Anakin for a long time. Long enough to get him to 5* and then finally cut my losses. He's just not great to me. He helped me to a 5* Yoda, but I really don't want to drop any more resources into him right now. I feel much about him the way you do about Mace.

I think that's a severe deficiency in the non chromium Jedi. Who's the least bitter pill to swallow?

I'm going with no bitterness. I would love a 7* Yoda, but not at the expense of grabbing toons I don't think I want right now.

Anakin is a lot better than people give him credit for, although I do think he could use a minor buff given the difficulty of his grind.

He's fast and will be getting even more speed after the level cap lifts. I believe he becomes the fastest Jedi in the game.

He's got a great health pool. He easily survives GS swarm ability and can survive fotp multi attack. I know you're looking at him for the yoda event, but that's just to give you a frame of reference.

The damage on his basic is decent. He hits as hard as Luminara. My 6* g8 (minus the two spots which require 50x hair driers and the other 50x stun cuffs) does an unbuffed, non-crit of 2.3k+ and an unbuffed crit of 4K+.

His AOE is pretty weak unbuffed. It won't be very useful in the challenge. But it's great in arena. Between him and QGJ I almost never go a match without offense up. Another great use for it is immediately after Poe dies when he gets his offense up and 90% turn meter using it to hit their whole team pretty hard.
