They weren't exploiting a bug. That's how she worked out the gate. They came in later after everyone built her up to counter Revan and said oops our bad, but you'll still take the lose. It's becoming a recurring theme that can only be chalked up to ineptitude.

The problem is that she wasn't working correctly out of the gate. Protection up is always based on max health but the game was incorrectly using the max health at the start of the battle rather than the current max health at the time of protection up being applied.

No other toon reduced max health other than Jango Fett who is hardly used against Nest so it went unnoticed.
