Well done!
There's a lot going on and mod farming can be a pain in the rear, but you should have some success once you figure out a farming schedule. Some people like to do it once a week, and others (I'm personally in this camp) like to do it for a set amount of time between their other cantina farms. A week between each cantina farm can go a long way to getting your arena team kitted out in decent mods, and having a few left over for your secondary and tertiary teams. Something else entirely may work better for you.
As far as events go: hence why I mentioned a long-term plan! Most people start by farming the required teams for the Legendary/Journey events, then branching out to wherever their priorities lay (raids, guild events, arena, fleets). The biggest mistake you can make in GoH is chasing whatever fancy shiny-thing that happens to catch your eye for a moment. If your plan leads to JTR--or you're about set for your Empire/CLS teams and want to move on to her--then it's time to get your Resistance and First Order teams and jump on those vets the moment you hit 83 (I hope the luck Gods are with you).
I'm such a noob that I don't even know what CLS or JTR means :s
