The sun is setting on Phoenix. They've been a great team for about a year now, but it looks like EA is trying to turn the endgame teams to other areas. I've spent about a year with Phoenix, and my Hera, Ezra, Kanan, Zeb and Sabine (yes, Sabine, not Chopper) are all G12, zeta'd. With them I can clear all rebel events, score as high as most teams in Pit and HAAT, and I've been as high as 3 on my shard in arena. They were great for clearing GW when it was hard and they can clear any encounter in TB.
In the arena, I first started to see their dominance of the Nihilus Sith Meta that was very prominent on my shard last winter/spring. After I started getting character's zeta'd, I was able to take on the CLS/R2 teams. I struggled only against Zeta-Finn resistance teams when I was on offense. Too much speed. Phoenix are inherently slow. GK/Barris was historically tough too since I can't dispel often. I destroyed NS teams from the second I started to see them.
Now I struggle to stay in the top 100. Phoenix have never been good on defense because Kannan's AI sux. But now there are many teams I have to steer clear of on offense. I absolutely cannot touch an EP team, with Vader or without. And that's about 1/2 to 2/3 of the teams on my shard right there. Also, Raid Han + Wampa will destroy my team, as will JTR teams. And I've never improved against Finn-lead resistance teams, though I don't see them much anymore. I can still beat 75% of the CLS/titans teams I encounter unless they're packing a super buffed Raid Han with GK.
And then there's the sith raid.... I don't think there's a worse team to take into that than Phoenix. My G12 zeta'd phoenix team does WORSE than my G9 no zeta not all even 7 stars, Sith team.
I'm working up an Empire team now just to keep relevant. My phoenix team are being relegated to the B-team.
Um Phoenix destroys Phase 2 (drop chopper and run both Ezra and Sabine). And for the same reason does pretty well in P4 after Nihlus is dead as long as Sion is alive. You will make it to enrage with full health and protection on everyone but Kanan. Sometimes he needs a backup plan. And Mine are only g8-g9.
