Purple lasers

Over the last few days, it seems that certain characters, Fett and Phasma to name a couple as well as certain ships are firing a pixelated purple beam that looks like it belongs in an Atari game from the 1980s. Also, droids have the same pixelated purple block around them when injured. What is causing this? I got a new Samsung S8 recently
