Reason Darth/Jedi Revan are META
A lot of people complain about the META characters in SWGOH and i can see where they are coming from but i think the reason for the META is because it is not based on popularity or who your favorite characters are. I think what the META is based on is the actual "power" or prowess of the said toon. for example do i think Darth Vader is powerful and my favorite SW character? yes,but i could also see why a character like Revan would be far more powerful than any version of Anakin.
While Anakin fought droids and few seperatist in his war Jedi Revan fought against a whole empire of mandolorians who were conquering the entire galaxy. A group of battle hardened warriors and unlike Anakin revan not only participated in the war he was the leader of the army. those mandolorians are not you watered down boba fett, jango fett or even clones of the first two trilogies. these are warriors who lived and breath war all their lives.
While Anakin was killing younglings in his fall to the dark side Revan was killing jedi masters in a full out war against the republic that he was winning with active battle. Revan wasn't shielded by having the empire on his side going against the remnant of the jedi order. Revan was not lured to the dark side by love or to help his wife He did it willingly to strengthen the republic for the war to come.
As much as i love Darth Vader i just dont see how his path would lead him to be a better warrior and tactician to Revan. and the same can be said about a lot of toons in the game. Imagine if the bounty hunters from original trilogy came against vader and palpatine how would that turn out? or better yet imagine general kenobi and Anakin war veterans going against kylo ren and Rey. Do you even think that Rey and Ren even know what the high ground is? Things you learn from years of fighting on the front lines in a war.
I think the problem we fans are having is we only want to see the parts of star wars we like be on top but SW is bigger than we think and all of its different parts has its fans. When i first started playing this game i did not know much about thrawn and phoenix squad so i would be upset when i would lose to them. i went back and watch the entire rebels catalog and now i understand why they work the way they do. I didnt let my bias take over i became a fan of more star wars. This is what this game does it open more star was for the fans and i appreciate it.
