Replacing Phoenix Arena Team - Empire vs Rebels

Hi, I can reach 150th or so in Arena before payout then drift to 275-300 with my lvl 84/85 Omega’d Phoenix Team.
In the wings I have 2 potential replacement teams:
Empire:
6* Palps (7* in a day or so!), 7* TFP, 7* Thrawn, 7* Tarkin, 7* Vader
Or

Rebels
7* Wiggs, 6* Leia (nearly 7), 7* Old Ben and 7* R2D2
(With a plan to ditch Wiggs for CLS and Raid Han when the event comes back up, and my Raid Han is only half way done!)

Is Empire clearly better than Rebels? (Assuming a core goal of zzR2D2)

    Empire is the meta, sure. But if your rebels are fast enough then they shouldn't have a hard time dealing with empire. Really depends on your other goals - the empire team has the bonus of also being full of fleet toons. Rebels only claim biggs and maybe wedge.

    Rebels team has 3 of the 5 toons needed for CLS. Empire team has no one needed for hero journey.

    I would go empire. While your team isn't the current meta, empire is a lot closer to it. Rebels are weak vs palp lead so your choice is use palp or have your rebels beaten by him. Good rebel teams can compete against palp lead but to be on equal ground you'll need better mods or gear. With empire you can beat rebels that have better mods and gear than you. You'll probably want to gear both to an extent with ls and ds tb and tw but I would focus on empire first.
