zVader OWNS zSavage for this very reason. He duplicates all of the DoTs every turn, making Zader twice as effective.
I run zSavage in arena and @Allenb60 is right I believe...when he takes debuffs, they only last one turn on him. I have never seen what you are describing without crits, but I'll be sure to look for it.
