Fleet arena is 99% RNG based when everyone's ships are the same speeds. If you have an Ackbar / Falcon fleet vs Ackbar / Falcon fleet especially so. If the AI doesn't want you to win, you ain't winning and it'll just be referred to as "oh that's just RNG" because that's the easy response. CG relies on "RNG" wayyyyyy too much in this game.
It is ridiculously stupid and painful, but fleet arena is lower on the priority than organizing sock drawers and been so for the last 12ish months (since ships 2.0 came out) so don't expect it to change any time soon.
