Should I gear Vader?

If you have Palp or ever have a plan to get him, then yes. Vader at G10 and 7* plus the right mods can easily reach 10k power. Under palp lead his debuffs give him tm and health, and because of his very high health/protection, he survives a lot of hits. He is an "attacker" with the health of a tank. His basic hits weakly but adds an ability block. (I recommend running him with IG-88. 88 will feed off his debuffs).

If you don't have darkside toons for the missions, then yeah, it's probably a good idea to gear vader up at least a bit (though his higher levels can take ages of grinding!).

However, don't expect him to be much use in arena, especially at higher ranks - Rex (and now the Yoda priority change) tenacity up makes him utterly useless.

Idk about you but my shard has like 2 players using Rex and about 2 more using Yoda inside the top 50.

Plus Vader is still effective against Yoda. His basic can't be evaded and the ability block can't be resisted by jedi. I also haven't yet run into a yoda or Rex modded well enough to move before my Palp.

He isn't ONLY good with EP...but he does become a heckuvalot stronger with Palps. I would still recommend him to anyone. Especially since they are now buffing the Imperial faction consistently with new toons.

At least half of my top 20 have rex and one of those who does not, has yoda at 225 speed. That Yoda goes before pretty much anyone which completely nullifies Vader, as well as Palpatine.

That's rough man. Haha just wait for TFP...when he can ability block his primary target and give everyone else buff immunity Yoda will be totally irrelevant once again and Rex will be down for at least that first turn.

Agree with all of the above - Vader is still a very useful toon to have. He simply gets much better with an EP lead.

Or run Sun Fac...he can debuff Tenacity. Vader is good at higher levels and gear tiers (at least G9 if not G10) and becomes better with an EP lead.

Palp has 122 base speed. Yoda has 157 base speed. Yoda should literally always go before your Palp if they have like any speed mods. If I were you I'd pay more attention to those Yoda's on your shard and hope they don't start speeding up. :wink:

But on topic, I'd say gear up Vader, his high health makes him pretty useful in Dark Side battles because they love to make the AI hit hard in those things.

I just 6 starred my Vader and I'm constantly grinding him to make him better. I think he's gear 8 and heavily modded along with omega abilities - all maxed out. The man's a meat shield that can take crazy damage and he assists a lot causing ability block.

It's my mission to make an iconic team and see what that would be like.

I vote yes, gear up Vader. He really is a good character. I use him regularly to shut down Anakin using ability block. Yes, he's great under EP lead of course, but speedy Yoda is proving to be extremely effective at stopping Palpenstein. When Yoda spreads Tenacity Up, it's a much different battle. Luckily you can bring Wiggs along to dispatch Yoda in those situations; you may not be quick enough to stop him the first round, but you can certainly make sure he doesn't do it again.
