So how does the guild progression / search work?

Question

So leveling up, I kept getting put into higher 'starter' guilds without my choice. And each time, I'd apparently lose whatever contribution I'd made to the one before.

So after the last "involuntary transfer," I searched for guilds using the 'Guild Search' function, but was put into guilds that only allowed 7-Star characters... even though I only had two 7-Star characters. (the search function doesn't tell you this, you have no way of knowing until you transfer in and 'join' the guild.) Thus I couldn't even participate in anything. So I left that 7-Star-only guild, was locked out for 24 hrs as punishment because I didn't want to be in a guild that I could even do anything in... and just went back to the starter guild for my level ("Tier 6," whatever that means).

I'd like to unlock General Kenobi, which according to google search, means I have to participate in higher raids than Tier 6 allows.

So I guess I can't do that until I upgrade at least three more toons to 7-Stars, so that I have a full 7-Star team, then use the Guide Search again, since all the guilds apparently only allow 7-Star toons to participate in the higher (Kenobi) level raids?

You need at least one seven star character to join the top tier raids. Guilds impose their own requirements for new players. Sounds like your roster wasn't deep enough to meet the rules/requirements of the guild you joined.

Search the guild recruitment section here, or make a post in that area with your roster, GP etc and say you are looking for a guild. You'll keep going in circles using the in-game thing.

Don't join a guild in game.

There is no way for the guild to set it so only people with 7 star characters can join. The vast majority of guilds have raids on farm. A player playing less than 3 months can solo heroic pit. Heroic rewards are much better than non heroic rewards so most guilds will only let people in who can take part in heroic raids.

Discord servers or the recruitment section here is best. If you dont want heroic raids find somewhere running raids that will suit you.

You can always take part in heroic raids with a single character. It mightnt help the guild much hut at least you get rewards.

It is likely that you might be able to find a guild with a spot for you that runs both Tank and Pit on Heroic and doesnt care if you cant do any real damage in it so long as you post your 600 guild tickets daily. You could even get lucky and that guild could be finished with T5-6 Sith in a day or two each time and stack up even more rewards then.

So long as you have a single 7* char you are able to post the auto zero during the cooldown phase and still get rewards.
