No; definitely not. QGJ is so incredibly versatile, and Poe is not one of the better tanks anymore. I'd stick with QGJ and either go for RG or ST Han."Chicagotarsier;443949" wrote:
RG is best tank in game period. He does two things well. Stun and tank. Exactly what you want in a tank.
I only have my RG at 2* atm, is he still a viable option?
Eddie,
I ran a droid team from the first day I could get all three main droids together on my alt account. I created the account right after finding out about how awesome a droid synergy team was. I thought about farming Poe (actually unlocked him and sunk another 2-3 Cantina Shipments into him before switching to QGJ and never looking back.
Poe is nice, but not critical for Droid Teams to get you higher in the Arena. A Droid Synergy team with Poggle the Lesser and Geonosian Soldier can take you pretty far. It took me all the way up to 23 at the highest, and I've stayed in the top 100 on my server the entire time I've played that account. I've since farmed my Royal Guard to 6 stars, and I'm barely dropping over night. But even at 4* my team was keeping me top 100 beyond level 70.
If you're still in the infancy levels of the game (under 60) or even in the 60s headed to 70, a 2 star Royal Guard may be viable. If you're in your 60s, the rest of your droid team is 6 or 7 stars, then a 2 star Royal Guard may not be viable.
I would stick with QGJ, he's extremely valuable for Raids, GW, Arena, Light Side Battles, Cantina, Challenges, just about everything in the game, not to mention unlocking Yoda.
TL;DR: Stick with QGJ, Poe is old news.
You can run HK-47 (Lead), 88, 86, Poggle, and GS with confidence
You should shoot for a team of HK-47, 88, 86, Poggle, and Royal Guard
Eventually ending with a team of HK-47, 88, 86, Jawa Engineer, and Royal Guard
Wow, an absolutely fantastic response.
First and foremost, thank you for taking the time to answer my question. Your answer was exactly what I was looking for, good solid information backed up with experience.
As per you advice, I will continue farming my QGJ in my cantina shipments.
Also, I've been farming IG-86 in GW, should I instead be farming Poggle?
I am a level 56 and am thinking of running this arena team:
1.HK-47 (G6)(4*)
2. IG-88 (G5)(3*)
4. IG-86 (G5)(3*)
5. GS (G6)(6*)
7. RG (G6)(2*)
On my server I'm currently facing mainly phasma teams with tier 7 gear. When would you say my droid squad is ready to work in the arena?
Can a droid team take me to the no 1 spot? Because I rarely see many droid teams on my server.
Appreciate your feedback, it truly means alot.
Thanks,
Eddie.
Eddie,
If you're farming 86, keep on going to his next "star". This is what I did: I farmed 86 to 5 stars, then Poggle to 5 stars, then 86 to 6 stars, then Poggle to 6 stars, then 86 to 7 stars.
It's a little bit different from what most people would recommend, but it worked out well for me. Poggle is fine at 6 stars (I have him 100/100, but haven't spent the 1M credits to promote him).
If I were you, as 47 and 88's shards are both found in the arena store, I'd focus on getting 47 to 5 stars before shifting over to 88. 88 needs to get to 7 stars quickly to increase his health pool. He dies very quickly. Your GS is well on its way to 7 stars, and will be the cornerstone of your DPS until you get 86 and 88 up to 7 stars. If your RG is doing well where he is at 2 stars, keep him in the lineup. Otherwise, after you get Poggle, toss him into your lineup and go "tankless" for a little while. The Droid Synergy team can kick some serious butt when the RNG (random number generator) Gods smile down on you. That's the only drawback with the Droid Team. If you aren't getting crits, you aren't winning battles. You could get your team absolutely demolished by a team in one battle, turn right around and fight that same team again and win just because you got good crits.
Will a droid team take you to the number one spot? Probably not. Will it keep you in the top 100, possibly even the top 50? Yes. I can say so with absolute confidence and from experience.
You can check out my current droid team in action in Arena (all level 73, gear 8, 7 stars except RG/Poggle at 6 stars) in the video below (It's set to start at 8:10, if it doesn't start there, you can manually scroll to it). You can start the video at the beginning to see how effective a droid synergy team can be in Galactic War as well.

Thanks, I'll shoot you a friend request real quick.
I'm currently not running my droid team in my arena squad because they aren't at a level where they're a viable option yet. Still shooting towards unlocking poggle, I've got him at 40/80 shards.
I've decided to leave RG out because at 2*, he doesn't do much except die within the first few seconds of a fight.
I'll take your advice and get HK to 5* first and then IG to 7*, and alternate poggle and 86.
