Wat Tambor + Darth Malak

How does the relationship between Darth Malak work? Does Tambor just give Malak protection? That's doesn't seem right, so does the extra protection turn into health? Does Malak get to taunt? Is this even viable, or is there another Sith Empire/Wat combo that slaps?
